Abstract

U radu je ponuđen pregled najvažnijih kultova i štovanja Helene Trojanske u antičkoj Grčkoj. Ovi kultovi uključuju Helenin kult u Platanisti u Sparti, kult Helene Dendritis na otoku Rodu i zajednički kult Helene i Menelaja u Terapni po imenu Menelajon. Da bi se bolje razumjeli ovi kultovi, prethodno je napravljen pregled antičkih izvora koji spominju Helenu i dijelove njezina života. Kultovi heroja u antičkoj Grčkoj bili su česti, a znanstvenici se ne slažu međusobno u potpunosti po pitanju samog statusa Helene u kultovima, odnosno, radi li se tu o božanskom ili herojskom statusu. Najviše izvora i arheoloških dokaza za kultne aktivnosti imamo iz zajedničkog kulta Helene i Menelaja u Terapni, a kojeg spominju Pauzanija, Izokrat i Herodot. Jasno se može vidjeti da se ovdje ne radi o običnom kultu heroja, budući da je štovanje uključivalo rituale s elementima božanskog štovanja, međutim ne može se reći sa sigurnošću niti da je ovo bio božanski kult. Za Helenu se smatra da je bila zaštitnica žena i djece, a pogotovo djevojčica i da je povezana s plodnošću i rastom.

Abstract (english)

The paper offers an overview of the most important cults and veneration of Helen of Troy in ancient Greece. These cults include the cult of Helen at Platanistas in Sparta, the cult of Helen Dendritis on the island of Rhodes, and a joint cult of Helen and Menelaus at Therapne called the Menelaion. In order to better understand these cults, an overview of the ancient sources that mention Helen and parts of her life was previously made. Hero cults were common in ancient Greece, and scholars do not fully agree on the status of Helen in the cults, i. e., whether they were divine or heroic. We have the most sources and archaeological evidence for cult activities from the joint cult of Helen and Menelaus in Therapne, which is mentioned by Pausanias, Isocrates and Herodotus. It can be clearly seen that this is no ordinary hero cult, since the worship included rituals with elements of divine worship, however it cannot be said with certainty that this was a divine cult either. Helen is considered to be the protector of women and children, especially girls, and is associated with fertility and growth.
