Abstract

Mnoga istraživanja bave se govornom produkcijom osoba sa shizofrenijom u svrhu utvrđivanja akustičko-fonetskih biomarkera za shizofreniju. Većina takvih istraživanja uključuje automatske analize govornog zvuka, uz manjak tradicionalnih akustičko-fonetskih postupaka. Dosadašnja istraživanja pokazala su da se osobe u kroničnom stadiju shizofrenije mogu razlikovati od tipičnih govornika prema određenim akustičko-fonetskim parametrima, a najkonzistentnijima su se pokazali parametri vezani uz vremensku organizaciju govora. Cilj je ovoga rada istražiti vremenske parametre u govornoj proizvodnji osoba s poremećajima iz spektra psihoze kod pojedinačnih slučajeva, uključujući i rani stadij psihotičnog poremećaja uz kronični stadij shizofrenije. Za svakoga od četiri ispitanika izmjerena su trajanja izgovornih dijelova govora i stanki s obzirom na vrstu te su provedeni tradicionalni akustičko-fonetski postupci, uključujući mjere tempa govora, tempa artikulacije i njihove razlike, te je provjerena učestalost i pojavnost govornih stanki s obzirom na njihov sastav. Rezultati podupiru važnost uključivanja tradicionalnih akustičko-fonetskih postupaka u istraživanjima govora osoba s poremećaja iz spektra psihoze. Određeni vremenski parametri pokazali su se potencijalnim prediktorima shizofrenije već u ranom stadiju psihotičnog poremećaja. Atipično visoka razlika između tempa artikulacije i tempa govora pronađena je kod svih ispitanika. Također, čini se da bezglasne stanke nisu dostatne za cjelovit opis atipičnosti u govornom zastajkivanju osoba s poremećajima iz spektra psihoze, već je nužno uključiti i druge oblike stanki u buduća istraživanja.

Abstract (english)

Many studies deal with the speech production of individuals with schizophrenia in order to identify acoustic-phonetic biomarkers for schizophrenia. Most of these studies involve automatic analyzes of speech sound, with a lack of traditional acoustic-phonetic approach. Previous research has shown that individual in the chronic stage of schizophrenia can differ from typical speakers based on certain acoustic-phonetic parameters, with the parameters related to the temporal organization of speech proving most consistent. The aim of this study is to investigate temporal parameters in the speech production of people with psychosis spectrum disorders in individual cases, including both the early stage of psychotic disorder as well as the chronic stage of schizophrenia. For each of the four subjects, durations of articulated segments and pauses were measured with regard to their type, and traditional acoustic-phonetic procedures were conducted, including measures of speech rate, articulation rate and their differences. The frequency and occurrence of speech pauses were also observed with regard to their structural composition. The results support the importance of including traditional acoustic-phonetic procedures in research on the speech of individuals with psychosis spectrum disorders. Certain temporal parameters have been recognized as potential predictors of schizophrenia in the early stages of the psychotic disorder. An atypically high difference between articulation rate and speech rate was found in all subjects. Additionally, it appears that silent pauses are not sufficient for a comprehensive description of atypicalities in the speech pausing in individuals with psychosis spectrum disorders, and it is necessary to include other forms of pauses in future research.
