Abstract

Ovaj diplomski rad čini pet prijevoda uz popratne komentare. Ulomci iz triju knjiga prevodili su se s engleskoga na hrvatski (Red Sands, The Hidden Adult – Defining Children’s Literature and 12 Bytes: How We Got Here. Where We Might Go Next) i dviju knjiga s hrvatskoga na engleski jezik (Staklo u Dubrovačkoj Republici u svjetlu arheoloških nalaza and Iva, do Mjeseca i natrag). U komentarima se primarno raspravlja o termilogiji i odabiru najprikladnijeg termina u ciljnom jeziku. U komentarima se također raspravlja o prijevodnim procesima i prenošenju izvorne poruke na što precizniji način.

Abstract (english)

This thesis comprises five translations with commentary. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (Red Sands, The Hidden Adult – Defining Children’s Literature and 12 Bytes: How We Got Here. Where We Might Go Next), and two from Croatian into English (Staklo u Dubrovačkoj Republici u svjetlu arheoloških nalaza and Iva, do Mjeseca i natrag). The commentary primarily focused on terminology and choosing the most appropriate term in the target language. Other issues commented on were about the process of translation and conveying the source text message as accurately as possible.
