... More od početaka kršćanstva pa sve do XIII. stoljeća. Temeljna su istraživačka pitanja ovoga rada: koliko je bilo našašća i translacija svetačkih relikvija na istočnojadranskoj obali u ranom i razvijenom srednjem vijeku, relikvije kojih svetaca su prenesene iz kojih gradova u koje gradove, kada su se ta našašća i translacije dogodile, tko je potaknuo našašće i translaciju i tko je imao najistaknutiju ulogu u tim događajima, tko je sudjelovao u tim našašćima i translacijama, kakvo je hagiografsko izvješće koje nam govori o tim našašćima i translacijama, iz kojega je stoljeća sačuvano hagiografsko izvješće, posjeduju li ta izvješća nutarnje značajke teksta koje sugeriraju postupno nadograđivanje i veću starost jezgre te sadrži li izvješće o translaciji i izvješće o našašću. No, budući da se cjelokupna tematika i problematika našašća i translacija svetačkih relikvija u srednjemu vijeku ne može razumjeti u svojem punom opsegu bez osnovnog znanja o srednjovjekovnom kultu svetaca i relikvija, u drugome ću poglavlju ovoga rada predstaviti, opisati i objasniti srednjovjekovnu kršćansku praksu štovanja svetačkih relikvija, kao i njihovih translacija, od najranijih dana kršćanstva pa sve do Četvrtog lateranskog koncila, uključujući i njegove zaključke. Također, budući da hagiografija, srednjovjekovni književni žanr koji služi kao izvor pri proučavanju našašća i translacija svetačkih relikvija u srednjemu vijeku, čini zaseban i poseban žanr s vlastitim osebujnim i specifičnim karakteristikama, osobinama i šablonama, u trećem ću poglavlju ovoga rada predstaviti, definirati i objasniti hagiografiju kao srednjovjekovni književni žanr i kao skupinu srednjovjekovnih povijesnih izvora, s posebnim naglaskom na izvješća o našašćima i izvješća o translacijama. Nakon toga slijedi glavni dio ovoga diplomskoga rada. U ovome, centralnome dijelu rada prikazujem, opisujem, objašnjavam i analiziram translacije relikvija svetoga Maura u Poreč, misiju opata Martina, translaciju relikvija svetih Dujma i Staša u Split, svete Eufemije u Rovinj, svete Anastazije u Zadar, svetog Krševana u Zadar, svetog Tripuna u Kotor, svetog Vlaha u Dubrovnik, svetog Ivana Trogirskog u Trogir te svetog Gaudencija Osorskog u Osor i tražim odgovore na postavljena istraživačka pitanja. The main objective and function of this thesis is to present, describe, and analyze inventiones and translationes of saints' relics that occurred on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea during the early and high Middle Ages. ... More saint's relics on the eastern Adriatic coast from the beginnings of Christianity until the 13th century. The fundamental research questions of this thesis include: the quantity of inventiones and translationes of saintly relics on the eastern Adriatic coast during the early and high Middle Ages, which saints' relics were transferred from which cities to which cities, when did these inventiones and translationes occur, who initiated these inventiones and translationes, who played the most prominent roles in these events, who participated in these inventiones and translationes, which hagiographic accounts tell us about these events, from which century are hagiographic accounts preserved, whether these accounts possess internal textual features suggesting gradual elaboration and greater antiquity of the core, and whether does the account of the transfer include the account of finding. However, since the entire theme and issues surrounding inventiones and translationes of saints' relics in the Middle Ages cannot be fully understood without basic knowledge of medieval cults of saints' and relics, the second chapter of this thesis will present, describe, and explain the medieval Christian practice of venerating saints' relics, as well as their translationes, from the earliest days of Christianity up to the Fourth Lateran Council, including its conclusions. Additionally, since hagiography, a medieval literary genre serving as a source for studying inventiones and translationes of saints' relics in the Middle Ages, constitutes a distinct and unique genre with its own distinctive characteristics, traits, and patterns, the third chapter of this thesis will present, define, and explain hagiography as a medieval literary genre and as a group of medieval historical sources, with a special emphasis on accounts of inventiones and accounts of translationes. Following this, the main part of this thesis ensues. In this central section, I present, describe, explain, and analyze the translationes of relics of Saint Maurus in Poreč, the mission of Abbot Martin, the translationes of relics of Saints Domnius and Anastasius in Split, Saint Euphemia in Rovinj, Saint Anastasia in Zadar, Saint Chrysogonus in Zadar, Saint Tryphon in Kotor, Saint Blaise in Dubrovnik, Saint John of Trogir in Trogir, and Saint Gaudentius of Osor in Osor, seeking answers to the posed research questions.
