Abstract

Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati utjecaj roda procjenjivača te sposobnosti procjenjivane osobe da producira i razumije humor na procjenu prihvatljivosti te osobe kao partnera za kratkoročnu i dugoročnu romantičnu vezu, uz kontrolu smisla za humor procjenjivača. Osim toga, željeli smo ispitati moderira li romantični status sudionika opisane efekte. Uzorak se sastojao od 519 sudionika koji su podijeljeni u jednu od četiri moguće eksperimentalne situacije. Sudionicama je prikazana fotografija osobe suprotnog spola, kao i scenarij koji tu osobu opisuje u terminima duhovitosti (produktivnosti) i razumijevanja tuđeg humora (receptivnosti). Zadatak sudionika bio je procijeniti u kojoj mjeri prikazanu osobu smatraju prihvatljivim partnerom za kratkoročnu i dugoročnu vezu i ispuniti Multidimenzionalnu ljestvicu smisla za humor. U kontekstu kratkoročne veze rezultati su pokazali da žene preferiraju visokoproduktivnog muškarca, dok kod muškaraca nije dobiven taj efekt. Na cijelom uzorku muškarci nisu iskazali preferenciju za visokoreceptivnom ženom, dok je taj efekt dobiven na poduzorku muškaraca koji su u vezi. U kontekstu dugoročne veze na cijelom uzorku, oba roda su pokazala preferenciju za osobom suprotnog spola s visokim razinama produktivnosti i receptivnosti. Na poduzorku sudionika koji su u vezi, žene preferiraju visokoproduktivne partnere, a muškarci visokoreceptivne partnerice. Rezultati su objašnjeni u terminima teorije pokazatelja adaptivne vrijednosti i teorije enkripcije.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this study was to examine effects of participants´ gender and targets´ humor production and receptivity on targets´ desirability ratings for short-term and long-term relationships along with participants´ sense of humor as covariate. We also examined if participants´ relationship status moderated these effects. Sample consisted of 519 participants, and they were divided into one of possible four experimental situations. They were shown a photograph of an opposite sex individual along with a scenario which described the person in terms of humor production and receptivity. Participants were asked to rate person´s desirability as short-term and long-term partner as well as to fill out Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale. Regarding short-term relationships, results showed that women preferred a man who was high in humor production, whereas men didn´t show this preference. Also, men didn´t show preference for a woman high in humor receptivity in case of a whole sample, whereas a subsample of men who are in a relationship showed this preference. In case of long-term relationships both genders showed preferences for a partner high in humor production and receptivity. Regarding subsample of participants in relationship, women showed preference for partners high in humor production and men showed preference for partners high in humor receptivity. Results are discussed in terms of the Fitness indicator theory and Encryption theory.
