Abstract

Populizam se u političkom i društvenom kontekstu doživljava kao ideologija koja se suprotstavlja elitama u korist "običnih" ljudi. Temelji se na binarnim opozicijama, kao što su "Dobro" (narod) naspram "Zlo" (elite). Dok neki vide populizam kao antagonizam između naroda i elita, drugi ga smatraju strategijom mobilizacije marginaliziranih. Također se bavi institucionalnim pitanjima, težnjom za većim utjecajem naroda te se javlja u trenucima nestabilnosti kao alternativa tradicionalnim politikama. Populisti se koriste specifičnim identitetima i samokategorizacijom, posebno ističući suprotnosti između "naroda" i "elite". Socijalnopsihološka perspektiva istražuje populizam kroz dinamiku međugrupnih odnosa i tendenciju pojedinaca za grupiranjem. U centru populističke retorike je podjela između "nas" i "njih", koja može biti vertikalna ili horizontalna. Osim političkog konteksta, strukture emocionalnih prilika (SEP) objašnjavaju uspon populističkih stranaka u Europi, naglašavajući ulogu emocija u političkom angažmanu.

Abstract (english)

Populism is perceived in a political and social context as an ideology opposing the elites in favor of the "ordinary" people. It's based on binary oppositions, such as "Good" (people) versus "Evil" (elites). While some see populism as an antagonism between the people and the elites, others consider it a strategy to mobilize the marginalized. It also deals with institutional matters, advocating for more influence for the people, and emerges in times of instability as an alternative to traditional politics. Populists utilize specific identities and self-categorization, especially emphasizing contrasts between the "people" and "elite". A socio-psychological perspective investigates populism through intergroup dynamics and the tendency of individuals to group. At the heart of populist rhetoric is the division between "us" and "them", which can be vertical or horizontal. Beyond the political context, Emotional Opportunity Structures (EOS) explain the rise of populist parties in Europe, emphasizing the role of emotions in political engagement.
