Abstract
This thesis delves into the intricate themes of cyberpunk, posthumanism, and transhuman-ism as portrayed in Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and its cinematic adaptations, Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. The study traces the evolution of science fiction as a genre and explores the emergence of the cyberpunk genre, character-ized by its focus on technology, identity, and rebellion against authority. Within these narra-tives, questions about the essence of humanity,... More the boundaries between humans and artificial beings, and the role of empathy in distinguishing the two are thoroughly examined. Addi-tionally, the dystopian settings, advanced technology, and corporate control depicted in these works align with the cyberpunk genre, while introducing concepts of transhumanism and posthumanism that challenge traditional notions of what it means to be human. The the-sis concludes by emphasizing the transformative journey towards a posthuman understand-ing of existence in a world where technology blurs the lines between human and non-human. Less
