Abstract

U ovom se diplomskome radu proučava hramski kompleks Khajurāho, s posebnim naglaskom na povijest, arhitekturu i umjetničku vrijednost hramova. Rad započinje povijesnim pregledom regije Khajurāho, i dinastije Candela, koja je odigrala ključnu ulogu u izgradnji ovih hramova. Analiziraju se arhitektonska obilježja hramova te se posebna pažnja posvećuje hramu Causaṭh Yoginī kao preteči ostalih hramova u Khajurāho. Detaljno su obrađeni i prijelazni tipovi hramova, posebice Lālguān Mahādeva i Brahmā.... More U središnjem dijelu rada, fokus je na trima najznačajnijim hramovima - Lakṣmaṇa, Kandāriyā Mahādeva (Mahādeo) i Viśvanātha, te na manje poznatim hramovima Dulādevi (Dulādeo) i Caturbhuji (Jatakārī). Abstract (english)

This master's thesis examines the temple complexes of Khajurāho, with a particular emphasis on their history, architecture, and artistic significance. The study begins with an overview of the Khajurāho region, then provides insight into the history of the Candela dynasty, which played a pivotal role in the construction of these temples. The architectural features of the temples are analyzed, with special attention given to the Causaṭh Yoginī temple as a precursor to the other temples in... More Khajurāho. Transitional temple types, particularly Lālguān Mahādeva and Brahmā, are explored in detail. The core section of the thesis focuses on the three most significant temples - Lakṣmaṇa, Kandāriyā Mahādeva (Mahādeo), and Viśvanātha, and on the lesser-known temples of Dulādeva (Dulādeo) and Caturbhuja (Jatakārī). The concluding part delves into the portrayal of erotic sculptures, debunking myths and exploring the reality of their meaning within the context of Hindu culture and religion. Less
