Abstract

Prirodne katastrofe kao što je potres predstavljaju nepredvidivu opasnost građevinama i artefaktima koji nose veliku kulturnu važnost. Dodatnu prepreku u sprečavanju moguće štete predstavljaju izazovi smještaja samih muzeja u Zagrebu koji se ne nalaze u zgradama kojima je primarna namjena očuvanje i skladištenje povijesnih artefakata. Potres koji se dogodio na području grada Zagreba 22. ožujka 2020. godine ukazao je na mnoge probleme s kojima se suočavaju muzeji te na nedostatak uputa i pravila za postupanje u slučaju potresa. Osim toga, iznio je na vidjelo važnost adekvatne spremnosti na prirodne nepogode muzeja i njihovih djelatnika. Nakon potresa, muzeji su se suočili s obnovom koja je onemogućila otvaranje vrata muzeja javnosti, zbog čega su pretrpjeli i financijski deficit uz fizičku štetu. Kao posljedica nanesene štete javljaju se dva oprečna stajališta u načinu postupanja s oštećenim predmetima: trebaju li oni zadržati svoje izvorno povijesno značenje potpunom restauracijom ili pak svjedočiti prirodnoj nepogodi koja je na njima ostavila vidljivu štetu.

Abstract (english)

Natural catastrophes such as earthquakes pose an unpredictable danger to buildings and artifacts of great cultural importance. An additional obstacle in preventing possible damage is presented by the challenges of the placement of museums in Zagreb which are not located in buildings whose primary purpose is the preservation and storage of historical artifacts. The earthquake that occurred and affected the Zagreb city area on March 22, 2020, pointed to many problems that museums face, and the lack of instructions and rules for dealing with earthquakes. In addition, it highlighted the importance of adequate preparation for natural disasters of museums and their employees. After the earthquake, museums were facing renovations that prevented opening their doors to the public, causing them to suffer a financial deficit in addition to physical damage. As a result of the damage caused by the earthquake, there are two conflicting points of view in the way of dealing with the damaged objects: should they retain their original historical meaning by means of complete restauration or should they bear witness to a natural disaster that left visible damage on them.
