Abstract

Ovaj rad predstavlja analizu retorike portugalskog autoritarnog vođe Antonia Oliveire Salazara. Ovaj konzervativni sveučilišni profesor financija je doveden na mjesto ministra financija u 1930-ima, za vrijeme velike krize u Portugalu. Funkcioniranje cijele države podredio je svojem financijskom planu, te uveo Ustavnu diktaturu na čijem je čelu bio gotovo do smrti. More početka, sredine i kraja karijere, a cilj je bio dobiti sliku Salazara kao govornika. Analizom je utvrđeno da najviše uvjerava političkim tvrdnjama čija su potpora vrijednosne tvrdnje, te činjeničnim tvrdnjama. Kao oslonac svojih tvrdnji koristi vlastiti ethos, odnosno svoj kredibilitet i znanje, te uvjerava vlastitim autoritetom. Od argumentacijskih pogrešaka najčešće koristi ad baculum, ad populum te zanemarivanje alternative. Abstract (english)

This thesis presents an analysis of the rhetoric of the Portuguese authoritarian leader Antonio Oliveira Salazar. This conservative university professor of finance was brought in as finance minister in the 1930s, during the crisis in Portugal. He subordinated the functioning of the entire state to his financial plan and introduced the Constitutional Dictatorship, with him as a leader, a role which he played practically until the end of his life. His speeches (3) from the beginning, middle, and end of his career were analyzed, and the goal was to get an idea of Salazar as a speaker. The analysis found that he persuades his audience using political claims supported by value claims, as well as factual claims. He uses his own ethos, that is, his credibility and knowledge, as the basis of his claims, and convinces with his own authority. Common fallacies include ad baculum, ad populum, and overlooking the alternative.
