Abstract

Moghulski vladari vladali su više od dva stoljeća velikim prostranstvima indijskoga potkontinenta. Učinkovitim upravljanjem i uspješnom gospodarskom politikom nakupili su veliko bogatstvo. Ostavština njihove višestoljetne vladavine očituje se u brojnim pojavama u kulturi suvremene Indije i indijskoga društva, a njihovi arhitektonski podvizi i dalje očaravaju ljude diljem svijeta. Kroz svjedočanstva putopisaca možemo dočarati život tog doba, ali i predmete koji su zauvijek izgubljeni. Jedno od njih je i veličanstveno Paunovo prijestolje, najraskošnije prijestolje ikad napravljeno, na kojem se očituje utjecaj kulta štovanja pauna koji se javlja već u drugom tisućljeću prije nove ere.

Abstract (english)

The Mughal rulers ruled over large areas of the Indian subcontinent for more than two centuries. Through efficient management and successful economic policy, they accumulated great wealth. The legacy of their centuries-long rule is reflected in numerous phenomena in the culture of contemporary India and Indian society, and their architectural feats continue to fascinate people around the world. Through the testimonies of travel writers, we can conjure up the life of that era, but also objects that have been lost forever. One of them is the magnificent Peacock Throne, the most luxurious throne ever made, which shows the influence of the cult of peacock worship, which appeared as early as the second millennium BC.
