Abstract

Stvaralaštvo Henrika Ibsena u svojoj srži krije bliske veze s psihoanalitičkim i feminističkim tendencijama, a središnje mjesto na kojem se presijecaju njihovi putevi predstavlja fenomen histerije. Unatoč dugoj tradiciji proučavanja histerije, tek s dolaskom Freudove psihoanalize uočavaju se ključni pomaci u pristupu. Nakon uzleta Freudove metode, interes medicine za histeriju postupno opada, ali se istraživanje fenomena seli na polje književnosti i umjetnosti. Možemo čak reći kako histerija u... More vrijeme kada medicina sve češće izbjegava njezinu uporabu pri dijagnostici dobiva sve veći značaj na području književnosti. Izvanrednim prikazom psihologije Ibsen donosi u književnosti reprezentaciju histerije koja se dade usporediti s Dorom – analizom slučaja histerije kojom se bavio Freud. Osim u psihoanalizi, fenomen histerije veliku je važnost odigrao i u feminističkoj kritici. Iz vizure pojedinih feminističkih kritičarki histerija postaje koncept kojem se pridaje pozitivan značaj – katkad se shvaća kao poželjna karakterna osobina aktivistica koje se bore za politička prava žena. Suodnos književnosti i feminizma u Ibsenovu se opusu očituje u odabiru junakinja koje označavaju promjenu društvenog uređenja te predstavljaju primjer moderne žene u kojoj čuči ono što se do tad smatralo „pravim muškarcem“. Ideja žene koja je izvana odjevena u haljinu i koja zrači svojom ženskošću i privlačnošću, dok je njezina unutrašnja stvarnost naklonjenija polu muškosti, dovodi nas do izjednačavanja ženskosti s maskeradom. Ideju istovjetnosti maskerade i ženskosti donosi psihoanalitičarka Joan Riviere koja svoje zaključke temelji na stvarnim slučajevima žena. Zaključci koje donosi Riviere, jednako kao i u slučaju Freudove Dore, izrazito su bliski onima koje u svojim dramskim komadima prikazuje Henrik Ibsen. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada jest dokazati kako junakinje Ibsenovih drama, s naglaskom na Heddu Gabler, Noru Helmer i Astu Allmers, posjeduju gotovo sve karakteristike tipičnih slučajeva histerije, a koji se opisuju iz medicinskog, psihoanalitičkog te književno-teorijskog očišta. Abstract (english)

The work of Henrik Ibsen at its core holds similarities with psychoanalytic and feminist tendencies.
The point at which these crossover represents the phenomenon of hysteria. Despite the long
tradition of studying hysteria, crucial shifts in the approach are observed only with the appearance
of Freud's psychoanalysis. After the appearance of Freud's method, the interest of medicine in
hysteria gradually declines, but the research of the phenomenon moves to the field of literature
and... More art. We can even say that whilst medicine often avoids its connotations in diagnostics, in
literature hysterical motifs gain more meaning. With outstanding psychological portraits of his
heroines, Ibsen's descriptions of hysteria achieve remarkable similarities to Dora - Freud's most
famous hysteria case analysis. Hysteria has played an important role not only in psychoanalysis
and exploring the unconsciousness, but also in feminist readings. Feminism uses hysteria in a
borderline positive sense, implying it to be a desirable character trait of female activists fighting
for women's political rights. Moreover, Ibsen's heroines symbolize the coming of a new social
order and give an example of a modern women who possess traits of what used to be considered
"the real man". With this, Ibsen gives an excellent example of interlinked relation between the
literature and feminism. An idea of a woman's outward image being the one in a dress and radiating
sexuality, whilst simultaneously her internal reality leans towards masculinity, brings us to
equating womanliness with a masquerade. The psychoanalyst Joan Riviere, who bases her
conclusions on real-life cases, brings this concept of equating the womanliness with a masquerade.
Riviere's conclusions, similar to the Freud's about Dora, closely resemble those made by Henrik
Ibsen in his dramas. The aim of this dissertation is to prove that heroines of Ibsen's dramas, as
exampled by Hedda Gabler, Nora Helmer and Asta Allmers, display the majority of the traits
typical for the cases of hysteria as studied in the context of medicinal, psychoanalytical and
