Abstract

Cilj ovog rada je objasniti proces arhiviranja weba. Na početku rada govori se o tome što je web arhiviranje, tko ga provodi i zašto. Objašnjeno je zašto je arhiviranje weba od velike društvene, kulturne, povijesne, znanstvene i političke važnosti za svaku državu te kome sve arhivirane web stranice u budućnosti mogu koristiti. Ukratko se objašnjava razvoj web arhiviranja, od prvih arhiva koji su se pojavili sredinom 90-ih godina, do pojave institucija koje su danas predvodnici u razvoju alata i strategija za arhiviranje weba. Predstavljene su neke institucije i organizacije koje se bave pitanjima očuvanja weba, uključujući Internet Archive i IIPC te Hrvatski arhiv weba koji je stvoren kako bi arhivirao hrvatski web. U zasebnom poglavlju predstavljene su neke vrste alata za arhiviranje. Navedeni su neki od najvažnijih pobirača čija je uloga traženje i prikupljanje sadržaja na webu, formata za pohranu sadržaja, alata koji služe za upravljanje i pregled prikupljenih sadržaja, alata koji služe za prikaz arhiviranih stranica korisnicima te alata koji su stvoreni za neku specifičnu upotrebu, poput analize web arhiva ili arhiviranja društvenih mreža.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this thesis is introducing the process of web archiving. The first part of the thesis provides insight to what web archiving is, who performs it and why. It is focused on the cultural, societal, historical, research and political importance of web archiving for countries and others who can benefit from having access to the archived web sites. The second part of the thesis covers the evolution and history of web archiving, from the first web archives that appeared in the mid-90s to today's institutions that are constantly developing new web archiving tools and strategies, including the Internet Archive and IIPC. This thesis also looks at the Croatian web archive that's striving to preserve Croatian web. Lastly, the thesis deals with different web archiving tools, including harvesters that find and harvest web content, formats used to store the content, tools for managing and reviewing harvested content, tools for presenting archived web sites and some other tools, like those for analysing web archives or archiving social network platforms.
