Abstract

Rad se bavi pojmom fantastike u suvremenoj književnoj teoriji, pri čemu se daje uvid u definiranje fantastike od Tzvetana Todorova. Objašnjava se žanrovsko i iznadžanrovsko poimanje fantastike, te određenja fantastičnog kao žanra, modusa i impulsa. Pojam nemimetičke književnosti uvodi se po uzoru na Kathryn Hume i govori se o povijesnom situiranju fantastičnog, te se razmatra može li se o fantastičnom govoriti i u usmenoj književnosti. Tvrdi se kako u konačnici fantastika u postmodernističkoj književnosti postoji kao alternativa dominantnom zapadnom racionalizmu te se razmatra kakav je u odnosu status fantastike kao vrste suvremene popularne književnosti.

Abstract (english)

The paper deals with the notion of the fantastic in contemporary literary theory, presenting the definitions of the fantastic since Tzvetan Todorov. Fantastic as a genre is explained in relation to the fantastic as a category transcending genre as either a mode or an impulse. The term of non-mimetic literature is introduced according to Kathryn Hume and the fantastic is considered from a historical perspective, discussing whether the fantastic can be said to exist in oral literature as well. It is claimed that the fantastic in postmodernist literature exists as an alternative to the dominant of Western rationalism, which is considered in relation to the status of the fantastic as contemporary popular fiction.
