Abstract

Važnost knjige i čitateljskih interesa razvijena je još od srednjeg vijeka. Školska knjižnica ne smije biti mjesto samo za posuđivanje knjiga, već mjesto za cjeloživotno učenje, mjesto informacijske i medijske pismenosti, mjesto za poticanje mašte, obogaćivanje rječnika, kreativnosti i spoznaje da čitanje povećava emotivnu inteligenciju i toleranciju. Uloga školskog knjižničara je velika. On mora biti vješt i inovativan, mora zainteresirati učenika od prvog razreda, probuditi u njemu istraživački duh, a rezultat toga bit će motiviran čitatelj .Razvoj čitalačke pismenosti i poticanje čitanja na nacionalnoj, lokalnoj i školskoj razini bitni su za razvoj učeničkih sposobnosti i kompetencija kako bi bili osposobljeni za cjeloživotno učenje i život u društvenoj zajednici, a što pokazuju nacionalni projekti i primjeri dobre prakse poticanja čitanja u školama koje se navode u ovom radu.

Abstract (english)

The importance of books and reader interests has evolved ever since the Middle Ages. The school library should not only be a place to borrow books from, but a place for lifelong learning, a place of information and media literacy and a place for stimulating your imagination, enriching your vocabulary, creativity and realization that reading enhances emotional intelligence and tolerance. The role of a school librarian is a large one. They have to be skilful and innovative and arouse interest of students already from the first grade and awaken the spirit of inquiry in them which will result in them becoming a motivated reader. The development of reader literacy and encouraging reading at national, local and school levels are important for the growth of students' capabilities and competence so that they could be qualified for longlife learning and life in the community. It is shown by the examples of good practice in encouraging reading in schools which are stated in this work
