Ovaj rad se bavi književnim stvaralaštvom Arundhati Roy u kontekstu indijske postkolonijalne književnosti. U uvodnom poglavlju bit će ukratko predstavljena povijest Indije pod britanskom vladavinom te važniji događaji koji su prethodili konačnom proglašenju nezavisnosti Indije te podjeli Indijskog potkontinenta na Indiju i Pakistan. U izlaganju teorijskog okvira fokus će se usmjeriti i na pojmove kao što su „postkolonijalizam“ i „postkolonijalna književnost“. Sljedeće poglavlje posvećeno je... Abstract (english)

This thesis deals with the literary work of Arundhati Roy in the context of Indian postcolonial literature. The introductory chapter will briefly present the history of India under British rule, as well as the key events that preceded the final declaration of independence of India and the partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan. In laying out a theoretical framework, it will also focus on terms such as ‘postcolonialism’ and ‘postcolonial literature.’ The next chapter will... More explore Indian novels written in English and will be followed by a short review of Indian postcolonial literature and its characteristics. The central part of the paper will contain a chapter dedicated to the author and activist Arundhati Roy, and will be divided into further chapters analysing her two novels, The God of Small Things and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, published twenty years apart.
