Abstract

Kako se zdravstvena rješenja i pojačano promatranje ljudskog kretanja preklapaju s novim idejama Interneta stvari (engl. Internet of Things, IoT), nastalo je područje u razvoju koje povezuje Internet stvari s našim tijelom. Ime ove rastuće industrije je Internet tijela (engl. Internet of Bodies, IoB) koja prikuplja podatke ljudskih aktivnosti upotrebom različitih uređaja sa senzorskim mrežama koji se mogu ugraditi, progutati ili nositi na ljudskom tijelu. Jednom kad su podatci povezani, mogu se razmjenjivati, a i tijelo i uređaj mogu se daljinski promatrati i kontrolirati.
Posljedica toga je ogromna količina zdravstvenih podataka koji bi mogli poboljšati dobrobit ljudi širem svijeta. Pristup ovim biometrijskim podatcima koji se prikupljaju uživo mogao bi prouzročiti napredak u medicinskom znanju i revoluciju u liječenju bolesti. S druge strane, to bi moglo povećati nejednakosti u zdravstvenim ishodima gdje bi samo ljudi s visokim financijskim prihodima imali pristup tim pogodnostima s malo pozitivnog učinka na rezultate.
Korištenje ljudskog tijela kao tehnološke platforme donosi mnogo izazovnih pravnih i političkih pitanja. Potrebno je baviti se velikim brojem rizika i izazova kako bi potencijal ove tehnologije bio u potpunosti shvaćen, od pitanja privatnosti do praktičnih prepreka.

Abstract (english)

As healthcare solutions and augmented observing of human motion overlap with the new ideas of the Internet of Things (IoT), a developing area has emerged that connects the Internet of Things with our body. The name of this growing industry is the Internet of Bodies (IoB) which collects data on human activities using various devices with sensor networks that can be implanted, swallowed, or worn on the human body. Once the data is connected, it can be exchanged, and both the body and device can be distantly observed and controlled.
The result is an enormous amount of health-related data that could improve human welfare around the world. Access to this live-streaming biometric data might cause breakthroughs in medical knowledge and revolutionize the treatment of disease. On the other hand, it might increase health outcome inequalities where only people with high financial incomes have access to these benefits with a little positive effect on results.
Using the human body as a technology platform raises a lot of challenging legal and political questions. Numerous risks and challenges must be dealt with to fully comprehend the potential of this technology, from privacy issues to practical obstacles.
