Abstract

This thesis comprises five annotated translations, accompanied by a discussion. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (Atomic Habits, Spitfire: A Very British Love Story, You Are What You Read) and two from Croatian into English (Znanstvena istraživanja jezika i prevođenja, Fiumanski, opet lažeš). The discussion mostly focused on terminology and the issues related to the translation of culturally specific items. The comments provided insight into the translation process and the reasoning behind every difficult translation choice.

Abstract (croatian)

Rad se sastoji od pet prijevoda uz popratne komentare. Ulomci iz triju knjiga prevedeni su s engleskog jezika na hrvatski (Atomic Habits, Spitfire: A Very British Love Story, You Are What You Read), a hrvatskog jezika na engleski prevedeni su ulomci iz dviju knjiga (Znanstvena istraživanja jezika i prevođenja, Fiumanski, opet lažeš). Popratni komentari većinom su se odnosili na terminologiju i izazove pri prevođenju pojmova karakterističnih za kulturu izvornog jezika. Komentarima se pokušao pružiti uvid u sam proces prevođenja i proces donošenja odluka prilikom prevođenja različitih vrsta tekstova.
