Abstract

Odgoj za održivi razvoj suvremena je potreba, i može se reći da je u današnje vrijeme potreba za održivošću u svim područjima ljudskog života i djelovanja nužnija nego ikad prije. Suočeni sa sve većim problemima izazvanima ljudskim utjecajem na prirodu, posljedica čega su i klimatske promjene, čini se neodgodivo prilagođavati i odgojno-obrazovni sustav kako bi se buduće generacije uspješnije nosile s izazovima koji ih čekaju, te donosile odluke koje će osim usmjerenosti na razvoj biti usmjerene i na očuvanje i suživot sa svim životom na Zemlji. Može se reći da je to uloga i cilj održivog razvoja. No, iako je potreba za održivim razvojem već dulje vrijeme prisutna i osviještena, često su pokušaji za uvođenjem odgoja za održivi razvoj u praksi nesustavni i polovični. Montessori pedagogija kao alternativna metoda odgoja i obrazovanja u svojoj suštini sadrži određene smjernice koje se mogu povezati s odgojem za održivi razvoj, od kojih je potrebno posebno izdvojiti usmjerenost na prirodu, slobodu i Kozmički odgoj. Zbog toga će se u ovom radu usporediti smjernice odgoja za održivi razvoj sa smjernicama Montessori pedagogije kako bi vidjeli može li Montessori pedagogija svojim pristupom odgovoriti na suvremene potrebe za održivijim odgojem i obrazovanjem, te pružiti ideje za postizanje veće osviještenosti i pripremljenosti djece i mladih za održiviju budućnost.

Abstract (english)

Education for Sustainable Development is a contemporary need, and it can be said that the need for sustainability in all aspects of human life and activity, is today more necessary than ever before. Faced with growing problems caused by the human impact on nature, the consequence of which are also climate changes, it seems inevitable to adjust the educational system, in order for future generations to successfully deal with the challenges that await them and make decisions that will not only be focused on development, but also on the preservation of and coexistence with all life on Earth. It can be said that is the purpose and goal of the ESD. However, even though the need for sustainability has been present and made aware to us for a while now, often these attempts to include sustainability are unsystematic in practice. Montessori pedagogy as an alternative method of education contains in its core certain guidelines which can be connected with ESD, such as nature, freedom and Cosmic Education. Therefore, in this paper, guidelines of the ESD will be compared with the guidelines of the Montessori pedagogy in order to examine can the approach of the Montessori pedagogy answer to the contemporary need for sustainability and offer ideas for achieving larger awareness and preparedness of young people for a more sustainable future.
