Abstract

Autorica u ovom radu tematizira pojam teoretskog načina života kako je izložen u Arisotelovom Nagovoru na filozofiju. Iako je Nagovor fragmentarno poznato djelo upitne autentičnosti, ono je vrijedan putokaz za razumijevanje kasnijih Aristotelovih djela, O duši i Nikomahove etike. U radu se redom propituje trostruko jedinstvo čovjekove duše, odnos duše i tijela, te trostruko određenje čovjeka prema definiciji duše. Nadalje, rad progovara o emocionalnom aspektu djelovanja obzirom na način života. Aristotel razlikuje tri načina života to su: život tjelesnih ugoda, život posvećen poslovima polisa, te teoretski život. Pritom se želi naglasiti da je filozofija za Aristotela naredbodavno znanje koje ima savjetodavnu i mjerodavnu ulogu kako u privatnoj sferi, tako i u javnoj sferi, u polisu. Cilj rada je pokazati opravdanost Aristotelovog zahtjeva koji nalaže da je razborito baviti se filozofijom ako želimo provesti smislen i svrhovit život.

Abstract (english)

In this paper the author discusses the notion of a theoretical way of life as presented in Aristotle's Protrepticus. Although the work is fragmented, it is a good introduction to the other well known works - On the soul and Nicomachean Ethics. The paper questions the triple unity of the human soul, soul-body connection and the triple definition of a man according to definition of the soul. Furthermore, the paper analyses emotional aspects of decision making considering the chosen way of life. According to Aristotle, there are three ways of life: a life of physical pleasures, a life devoted to the public domain and affairs of the polis, and the theoretical life. The intention of this work is to demonstrate the validity of Aristotle's demand which dictates it is prudent to study philosophy if one wishes to lead a meaningful and purposeful life.
