Abstract

Mein Ziel in dieser Diplomarbeit war es, die Ansicht zu verteidigen, dass literarisch-ästhetische Werke wie Comics und Graphic Novels einen festen Platz im schulischen Sprachunterricht verdienen. Die Arbeit bietet im ersten Teil einen Überblick über die geschichtliche Entwicklung des Comicgenres, dessen VertreterInnen sowie Comic-spezifische Merkmale. Im zweiten Teil wird anhand dieser Merkmale untermauert, wieso sich gerade dieses Medium gut für den Unterricht eignet und dank welcher Vorzüge (z. B. Anwendbarkeit schon auf einem niedrigen Niveau, Text-Bild-Zusammenhang, interkulturelles Wissen) man Comics im DaF-Unterricht einsetzen sollte. Im dritten Teil findet man ein praktisches Beispiel für einen Unterrichtsentwurf, dem der Comic „Bowie in Berlin“ als Grundlage dient. Aufgrund dessen wird noch einmal schriftlich festgehalten, dass Comics über ein großes Potenzial verfügen, das im fachübergreifenden und fachverbindenden Unterricht münden kann.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this thesis was to defend the view that literary-aesthetic works such as comics and graphic novels deserve a permanent place in language classrooms. The first part of the thesis consists of an overview of the historical development of the comic genre, its main representatives and comic-specific features. The second part uses these characteristics to underpin why this medium is particularly suitable for teaching and which advantages (e.g. applicability even at a low level, the connection between the text and the image, intercultural knowledge) underscore the fact that comics should be used in teaching german as a second language. The third part offers a practical example of a lesson plan based on the comic “Bowie in Berlin”. Based on this lesson plan, it is once again reiterated in writing that comics have great potential that can lead to interdisciplinary teaching.
