Abstract

Hram Kailāsanātha nalazi se u sklopu špilja u Ellori, vodi se pod brojem 16, a posvećen je bogu Śivi. Građen je za vrijeme vladavine dinastije Rāṣṭrakūṭa, točnije za vrijeme vladavine kralja Kṛṣṇe I (757.-772. pr. Kr.) To je jedinstvena samostojeća građevina isklesana iz jedne stijene prema principu klesanja odozgo prema dolje. Gradnja hrama trajala je desetak godina stoga je u hramskom kompleksu prisutno više različitih stilova poput stila Pallava te stila Cāḷukya. S obzirom na jedinstvenost... More ove građevine i posebnosti njegove izgradnje, ovaj hram izvrstan je primjer koji pokazuje koliko je sveti prostor prisutan i važan u životu hinduista. U hinduizmu, izgled hrama propisan je brojnim pravilima i obredima koji moraju biti izvedeni kako bi hram u konačnici ispunio svoju glavnu funkciju. Odnosno kako bi ga nastanili bogovi i njihova energija. U ovom se radu isprva objašnjava značenje svetog prostora, a potom izgled i simbolika hinduističkog svetog prostora. Abstract (english)

The temple of Kailāsanātha is a part of the caves in Ellora (number 16) and is dedicated to the god Śiva. It was built during the reign of the Rāṣṭrakūṭa dynasty, under the rule of king Kṛṣṇa I (757-772 BC). It is a unique free-standing building carved from a single rock. It was carved from the top and excavated to the bottom. The construction of the temple took about ten years, resulting in several different styles in the temple complex, such as the Pallava style and the Cāḷukya style.... More Given the uniqueness of this structure and the peculiarities of its construction, this temple is an excellent example that shows how significant the sacred space is in the life of Hindus. In Hinduism, the appearance of the temple is prescribed by numerous rules and rituals which must be performed in order for the temple to fulfill its main namely, to be inhabited by the gods and their energy. This paper first explains the meaning of sacred space, followed by the appearance and symbolism of Hindu sacred space.
