Abstract

Još od prapovijesti, bavljenje glazbom usko je vezano uz društveni kontekst te regulaciju emocija i raspoloženja. Drugim riječima, glazbene aktivnosti ljudima, osim užitka, pružaju i određene poželjne učinke na subjektivnu dobrobit. Pri tome odabir glazbenih aktivnosti je autonoman, ovisi o osobnim preferencijama te o vještinama koje posjedujemo. U ovom radu, pjevanje u zboru dovodi se u vezu s raspoloženjem te doživljajem zanesenosti, čija je temeljna odrednica postojanje optimalnog odnosa između izazova kojeg pruža situacija te vještina kojima se služimo. Korišten je kvazieksperimentalni nacrt u kojem je sudjelovalo N=50 članova zbora. U dvjema kvalitativno različitim situacijama – probi i nastupu, usporedbom rezultata pred- i post-testa nastojali smo zahvatiti utjecaje koje zborske pjevačke aktivnosti imaju na pozitivni i negativni afekt izmjeren upitnikom PANAS. Doživljaj zanesenosti nakon bavljenja glazbom ispitan je upitničkom mjerom koja razlikuje individualnu i grupnu zanesenost. Jednočestičnim mjerama zahvaćene su i neke varijable za koje se u literaturi pokazalo da su povezane s raspoloženjem i zanesenošću – zadovoljstvo, trema i osjećaj zajedništva. Pozitivni učinci na afekt (povećanje pozitivnog i smanjenje negativnog afekta) dobiveni su samo u situaciji nastupa, a zanesenost su sudionici doživjeli i tijekom probe i tijekom nastupa, s tim da je taj doživljaj veći u situaciji nastupa. Ostale varijable pokazale su gotovo sve očekivane obrasce povezanosti: pozitivan afekt, zadovoljstvo i zajedništvo pozitivno su povezane sa zanesenošću, negativan afekt povezan je negativno, dok za tremu nije pronađena povezanost.

Abstract (english)

Since prehistoric times, music-making has been closely tied to the social context and emotion- and mood-regulation. In other words, musical activities produce a sense of enjoyment and exhibit specific desirable outcomes on subjective well-being. Thereby, people choose activities autonomously, based on their personal preferences and their specific set of skills. This study aims to define relations between choral singing, affect and the experience of flow, whose basic assumption is an optimal challenge-skill balance. Participants are choir members (N=50), and the research design used is quasi-experimental in which two intrinsically different situations are investigated – rehearsal and performance. Pre- and post-measures are obtained to understand the effects of choral singing on PANAS measures of positive and negative affect. Following music-making, flow was examined using a questionnaire that measures individual and group flow. Additionally, some variables that show associations with both measures have been considered, namely satisfaction, performance anxiety and a sense of community, which were assessed by single-item scales. Results indicate that positive effects of singing on affect (increase in positive and decrease in negative affect) are limited to the performance condition, while flow can be observed across both situations, but performance situation yields a greater effect. The rest of the variables displayed correlational patterns that were almost as expected: positive affect, satisfaction and community were positively correlated to flow, negative affect had a negative association, and performance anxiety did not show any associations.
