Abstract

U ovome je radu ukratko opisana kriza dostupnosti znanstvenih informacija te razvoj ideje otvorenoga pristupa od njezinih početaka do danas. Navedeni su modeli financiranja znanstvenih časopisa u otvorenom pristupu s naglaskom na naknadu za objavu članka, čije su pozitivne i negativne strane detaljno predstavljene. Nadalje, dan je pregled financiranja zlatnih i hibridnih znanstvenih časopisa deset velikih svjetskih izdavača putem naknade za objavu članka i pretplate. Navedene su i mogućnosti koje pojedini izdavači nude kao pomoć autorima i korisnicima slabijega imovinskog statusa s ciljem poticanja otvorenosti u znanosti. Provedene su komparativne analize naknade za objavu članka i pretplate časopisa iz slučajno odabranoga uzorka te je na istome uzorku istražen i interpretiran odnos naknade za objavu članka i pretplate s čimbenikom odjeka, vrstom i predmetnim područjem časopisa predstavljenih izdavača.

Abstract (english)

This paper describes serials crisis and the development of open access form its beginning until today. Moreover, this paper examines article processing charges (APCs) and subscription fees as models of funding hybrid and gold open access journals, with special attention being paid to advantages and disadvantages of APCs in scholarly publishing. An overview of ten major global publishers is given with respect to journal financing by APCs and subscription fees. Waivers and discounts offered by individual publishers with the aim of promoting open science in low and lower middle-income countries are also presented. Article processing charges and subscription fees of a selected sample of journals were analyzed comparatively, after which the relationship of article processing charges and subscription fees with factors such as journal impact factor, type (hybrid or gold open access) and subject was researched and interpreted.
