Abstract

This thesis explores the Altaic language complex, analyzing the modality systems within Turkic, Mongolic, Tungusic, Koreanic, and Japonic language families, and showcasing the extensive diversity and complexity that these languages exhibit. Through an examination of modality, which offers a profound lens to comprehend speaker attitude, certainty, and intent, the research navigates the multilayered modal strategies providing an interpretation of expressive and communicative examples. The empirical application of linguistic theories also shows more interesting elements within the Altaic languages, highlighting the dynamic and evolving nature of linguistic structures and modal systems within socio-political contexts.

Abstract (croatian)

U ovome se radu istražuje kompleks altajskih jezika, analizirajući jezičnu modalnost unutar turskih, mongolskih, tunguskih, korejskih i dr. altajskih jezika, te se pri tome iskazuje njihova raznolikost i složenost. Kroz proučavanje jezične modalnosti, načina na kojem se iskazuju stavovi i namjere govornika, pokušava se ujedno i prikazati strategije jezične modalnosti te dati interpretaciju kroz jasne i temeljite jezične primjere. Empirijska primjena lingvističkih teorija nam također otkriva još više zanimljivih elemenata unutar altajskih jezika, ističući dinamičnu prirodu lingvističkih struktura i sustava modalnosti unutar različitih sociopolitičkih konteksta.
