Abstract

Filmovi koji su ispodprosječne kritičke i gledateljske recepcije često su zanemarivani u filmološkim analizama, recenzijama i povijesnim pregledima. Rad teži svojevrsnoj promjeni perspektive pri sagledavanju „loših“ filmova, uključujući pritom i kultne filmova kao i one koji su „toliko loši da su dobri“. Objašnjavanjem pojmova „dobrog“ i „lošeg“, ističe se maglovitost pojmova i njihova neodređenost, u potpunosti ovisna o onome koji se tim pojmovima koristi. Isto tako pojašnjava se razlikovnost umjetničkog filma te onog „zabavljačkog“ prije nego što se preko termina odgođenog vrednovanja analiziraju tri filma – u kategorijama „remek-djela“, „kultnog filma“ i „so-bad-it's-good filma“ – naglašavajući njihove kvalitete unatoč slaboj kritičkoj recepciji, a koji nisu bili cijenjeni u vrijeme izlaska. U tom pogledu analiziran je i Freddy Got Fingered, ozloglašen film notorno loše recepcije, ali u svjetlu neo-nadrealizma koji film prisvaja i daje mu drugačiju interpretaciju.

Abstract (english)

Films which are met with below-average critical and public reception are oftentimes neglected in film analyses, reviews and historical overviews. This paper aims at a change of perspective when it comes to viewing „bad“ films, including cult films as well as those which are „so bad they're good“. By defining the concepts of „good“ and „bad“, the ambiguity of these terms and their vagueness is highlighted as it depends entirely on the person who wields the terms. The difference between an art film and a „fun“ film is also discussed before three films are analyzed through the concept of delayed valuation – each one hailing from a category of either a „masterpiece“, a „cult film“ or a „so-bad-it's-good“ film – highlighting their qualities despite poor critical reception and not being appreciated by the public at the time of their release. In that view, Freddy Got Fingered is also analyzed, an infamous film with notoriously negative reception, but in the context of neo-surrealism which the film adopts and which gives it a different interpretation.
