Abstract

Proljetna proslava Hıdırellez obilježava se u Turskoj početkom svibnja te uključuje različite običaje, rituale i događanja s ciljem osiguravanja plodnosti, dobrobiti i prosperiteta zajednici, obiteljima i pojedincima kao i usjevima i stoci. Premda se ova proslava tradicionalno obilježava u ruralnim prostorima, Hıdırellez se od kraja 20. stoljeća na osobit način počeo obilježavati i u gradskim prostorima. Poznato je nekoliko turskih gradova u kojima se održava ova proslava, a naglasak u ovome radu će biti na proslavama u Ankari i Istanbulu. Glavni cilj ovoga rada je saznati na koji način proslava Hıdırellez reaktivira prostore dva najveća turska grada u suvremenom vremenu. Istraživanje će se temeljiti na sekundarnoj građi, te će uključivati odabir studija slučaja, analizu medijskog diskursa te kritičke analize drugih pisanih i vizualnih izvora.

Abstract (english)

The spring celebration called Hıdırellez is celebrated in Turkey at the beginning of May and includes various customs, rituals and events aimed at ensuring fertility, well-being and prosperity for the community, families and individuals as well as crops and livestock. Although this celebration is traditionally celebrated in rural areas, since the end of the 20th century, Hıdırellez began to be celebrated in a special way in urban areas as well. Several Turkish cities are known where this celebration is held, and the emphasis in this paper will be on the celebrations in Ankara and Istanbul. The main goal of this paper is to find out how the Hıdırellez celebration reactivates the spaces of the two largest Turkish cities in modern times. The research will be based on secondary material, and will include the selection of case studies, media discourse analysis, and critical analysis of other written and visual sources.
