Abstract

Rad Romantizam u realizmu bavi se proučavanjem odnosa romantičkih i realističkih značajki u romanima europskog književnog kanona. U obzir se uzimaju francuska, engleska i ruska književnost u kojima se realizam najviše razvio, te se one uspoređuju s hrvatskom književnosti. Analiziraju se sljedeći romani: Stendhalovo Crveno i crno, Balzacov Otac Goriot, Turgenjevljevo Plemićko gnijezdo, Gogoljeve Mrtve duše, Šenoini Prosjak Luka i Branka, Kumičićev Olga i Lina, Kovačićev U registraturi te... More Gjalskijev Janko Borislavić. Analizom navedenih romana možemo zaključiti kako su u europskim književnostima u kojima se realizam najviše razvio romantički elementi prisutni u znatno manjoj mjeri nego u hrvatskoj književnosti, što se može objasniti činjenicom da je u hrvatskom društvu književnost romantizma imala značajnu ulogu u procesu stvaranja nacije, ali taj proces još nije dovršen u vrijeme pojave realizma u zapadnim književnostima. Abstract (english)

The paper Romanticism in realism explores the relationship between romantic and realistic elements in canonical novels of European literary realism. Croatian literature is compared with French, English and Russian literatures, which are taken as examples of highly developed literary realism. The analyzed novels include Stendhal’s Red and Black, Balzac’s Father Goriot, Turgenev’s Home of the Gentry, Gogol’s Dead Souls, Šenoa’s Beggar Luka and Branka, Kumičić’s Olga and Lina, Kovačić’s... More In the Registrar's Office and Gjalski’s Janko Borislavić. The analysis of the novels points to the conclusion that romantic elements are present to a significantly lesser degree in European literatures of highly developed realism than in Croatian literature. This can be explained by the fact that romanticism had an important role in the nation-building process in Croatian society, and this process was not finished at the time of the emergence of realism in Western Europe.
