Abstract

Knjižnice su od davnina bile ključne institucije za očuvanje znanja, promicanje kulture i obrazovanja, te su često smatrane sigurnim prostorima za zajednicu. Dječje knjižnice zauzimaju posebno mjesto u društvu kao prostori gdje se njeguje ljubav prema čitanju, potiče kreativnost i omogućuje socijalizacija među najmlađima. Rad razmatra izazove s kojima su se knjižnice u Hrvatskoj suočile tijekom pandemije COVID-19 i prirodnih katastrofa, poput potresa, te kako su ove institucije nastojale... More prilagoditi svoje usluge kako bi ostale relevantne i dostupne zajednici. Posebno se usmjerava na primjer Knjižnice Medveščak, koja je bila pogođena s obje katastrofe, te na značaj igraonice i igroteke kao ključnih prostora za obrazovanje i socijalizaciju djece. Odjel za djecu i mladež Knjižnice Medveščak ima dugu i značajnu povijest koja prati razvoj same Knjižnice i promjene u društvenom okruženju. Istraživanje na Odjelu za djecu i mladež Knjižnice Medveščak pokazalo je vrlo zanimljive rezultate. Primjetan je veliki pad u broju posudbi i broju posjeta korisnika Knjižnice koji se više nego prepolovio. U 2023. godini obje brojke bilježe porast, ali još nisu dostigle razine prije svih nemilih događaja. Abstract (english)

Libraries have long been key institutions for preserving knowledge, promoting culture and education, and are often considered safe spaces for the community. Children's libraries hold a special place in society as spaces where a love for reading is nurtured, creativity is encouraged, and socialization among the youngest is facilitated. This paper examines the challenges faced by libraries in Croatia during the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, such as earthquakes, and how these... More institutions attempted to adjust their services to remain relevant and accessible to the community. The focus is specifically on the example of the Medveščak Library, which was affected by both disasters, as well as the significance of playrooms and play libraries as key spaces for children's education and socialization.
The Children's and Youth Department of the Medveščak Library has a long and significant history that follows the development of the library itself and changes in the social environment. Research conducted in the Children's and Youth Department of the Medveščak Library has yielded very interesting results. There was a noticeable significant decrease in the number of loans and visits, with the number of visitors being more than halved. In 2023, both figures saw an increase, but they have not yet reached the levels prior to the unfortunate events.
