Abstract

Cilj rada bio je istražiti što se smatra online nevjerom, postoje li rodne razlike u percepciji online nevjere te postoje li razlike u procjeni vlastitog i partnerovog online ponašanja kao nevjere. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 1149 sudionika (794 žena i 355 muškaraca) u dobi od 18 do 65 godina. Korištena je metoda ankete. Sudionici su što detaljnije trebali odgovoriti na pitanje što je za njih online nevjera. Kvalitativnom analizom rezultata dobiveno je sedam kategorija u koje možemo podijeliti online nevjerna ponašanja. Uz to, korištena je hipotetska situacija online nevjere po uzoru na istraživanje Hackathorn (2009) i hipotetski scenariji prikaza emocionalne i seksualne nevjere (Buss i sur., 1992; Buss i sur., 1999). Sudionici su također procjenjivali u kojoj mjeri opisana ponašanja smatraju nevjerom ako zamisle da su ih sami počinili ili da ih je počinio njihov partner/partnerica (Docan-Morgan i Docan, 2007). Utvrđena je statistički značajna razlika između muškaraca i žena u uznemirenosti partnerovom nevjerom. U tri od pet hipotetskih situacija, žene su bile uznemirenije i seksualnom i emocionalnom nevjerom partnera, a u ostale dvije situacije, žene su bile uznemirenije emocionalnom, a muškarci seksualnom nevjerom. Žene su više od muškaraca partnerovu poruku za online kontakt percipirale nevjerom, više su bile uznemirene tim ponašanjem i razmišljale o prekidu. Naposljetku, rezultati pokazuju da smo stroži pri procjeni partnerovih ponašanja na internetu kao preljuba nego vlastitih te da žene strože procjenjuju ovakva vlastita, ali i partnerova online ponašanja nego muškarci.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this study was to investigate what is considered online infidelity, whether there are gender differences in the perception of online infidelity, and whether there are differences in the assessment of one's own and one's partner's online behavior as infidelity. 1149 participants (794 women and 355 men) between the ages of 18 and 65 took part in the research. The survey method was used. The participants had to answer what is online infidelity for them in as much detail as possible. Qualitative analysis of the results yielded seven categories into which we can divide online unfaithful behaviors. In addition, we used a hypothetical situation of online infidelity based on the research of Hackathorn (2009) and hypothetical scenarios of emotional and sexual infidelity (Buss et al., 1992; Buss et al., 1999). Participants also assessed the extent to which they considered the described behaviors unfaithful if they imagined that they had committed them themselves or that their partner had committed them (Docan-Morgan and Docan, 2007). A statistically significant difference was found between men and women in being distressed by their partner's infidelity. In three out of five hypothetical situations, women were more distressed by both sexual and emotional infidelity of their partners, and in the other two situations, women were more distressed by emotional infidelity, and men by sexual infidelity. More than men, women perceived their partner's message for online contact as infidelity, were more distressed by this behavior and thought about breaking up. Finally, the results show that we are more strict when evaluating our partner's online behavior as adultery, and unlike men, women are more strict in evaluating their own online behavior as well as their partner's online behavior.
