Abstract

Rad istražuje arheološki značaj kompleksa špilja Volp, smještenih u francuskim Pirenejima. Rad pruža pregled triju međusobno povezanih špilja: Enlène, Tuc d'Audoubert i Les Trois Frères, poznatih po svojoj paleolitičkoj umjetnosti, koja uključuje gravure na stijenama, skulpture od gline i razne artefakte poput ukrašenih kostiju, perforiranih predmeta i prijenosne umjetnosti. Istraživanje ističe stijensku i prijenosnu umjetnost. Rad opisuje geografske značajke špilja Volp, njihovo datiranje u razdoblje gornjeg paleolitika, te povijest njihovog otkrića i proučavanja, s naglaskom na doprinos obitelji Bégouën, koja je odigrala ključnu ulogu u istraživanju i očuvanju ovih lokaliteta. Posebna pažnja posvećena je simboličkim i umjetničkim elementima pronađenim u špiljama, uz raspravu o njihovom mogućem kulturnom i duhovnom značenju. Rad također uspoređuje umjetničke prikaze i tehnike korištene u različitim prostorijama i špiljama, analizirajući ponavljajuće motive. Diplomski rad nudi sveobuhvatan pregled ljudskih aktivnosti vezanih uz izradu umjetničkih djela, kao i širu materijalnu kulturu prisutnu u špiljama. Analizom stilskih razlika i simboličkog značenja prikaza, rad pruža bolje razumijevanje umjetničkog i kulturnog svijeta zajednica koje su koristile ove špilje tijekom magdalenijena.

Abstract (english)

This thesis explores the archaeological significance of the Volp Caves complex, located in the French Pyrenees. The thesis provides an examination of three interconnected caves: Enlène, Tuc d'Audoubert, and Les Trois Frères, renowned for their paleolithic art, which includes rock engravings, clay sculptures, and various artifacts like decorated bones, perforated objects, and portable art pieces. The research highlights both parietal and portable art. The thesis outlines the geographical characteristics of the Volp caves, their dating to the Upper Paleolithic period, and the history of their discovery and study, focusing on the contributions of the Bégouën family, who were instrumental in researching and preserving these sites. Special attention is given to the symbolic and artistic elements found in the caves, discussing their possible cultural and spiritual significance. The study also compares the art and techniques used in different rooms and caves, examining recurring themes. The thesis offers a comprehensive review of both human activities related to the creation of the art and the broader material culture found in the caves. By analyzing the stylistic differences and symbolic meanings of the representations, the work provides a better understanding of the artistic and cultural landscape of the Magdalenians who inhabited these caves during the Paleolithic.
