Abstract

Ovaj rad nastoji predstaviti sliku svakodnevnog života na jednom rimskom vojnom logoru, točnije utvrdi Vindolandi, južno od Hadrijanovog zida u Engleskoj. Ta će se tema pokazati uglavnom putem drvenih pločica koje su otkrivene na tom lokalitetu u velikom broju. Osim pločica, spomenuti će se nekolicina ostalih zanimljivih materijalnih nalaza koji daju dodatne uvide u razne aspekte svakodnevnog života i međuljudskih odnosa. Uz sve to, predstaviti će se kraći pregled povijesti rimske Britanije te samog lokaliteta Vindolande kako bi se stvorio povijesni kontekst za nalaze i istraživanje Vindolande.

Abstract (english)

This thesis will attempt to showcase what everyday life in a Roman military camp looked like, specifically the fort of Vindolanda, south of Hadrian's wall in England. That subject will be shown primarily through the wooden writing-tablets that were discovered at the site in large numbers. Other than the tablets, the thesis will mention a number of other interesting finds that give additional insight into various aspects of everyday life and interpersonal relations. In addition to all of that, the thesis will also present a short history of Roman Britain and the site of Vindolanda itself, to create a historical context for the finds and the research surrounding Vindolanda.
