Abstract

Rad istražuje transformaciju tradicionalnih bajki unutar serijala Vještac Andrzeja Sapkowskog. Prvi dio rada proučava teorijski pristup bajkama, kao i povijest žanra. Također, razmotrila su se opća obilježja i funkcije bajke kao književne vrste te se prikazala jasna razlika između bajke i fantasy žanra. Drugi dio rada usredotočio se na serijal Vještac, posebice na analizu klasičnih bajki koje je Sapkowski reinterpretirao i integrirao kroz razne pripovijesti unutar serijala. Najviše su se proučavale pripovijesti iz zbirki Posljednja želja i Mač sudbine. U zaključku se ponudila teza da je autor preinačio klasične bajke i stvorio svijet koji potiče na razmišljanje i odjekuje kod suvremene publike.

Abstract (english)

The thesis focuses on the transformation of traditional fairy tales in the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. In the first part of the thesis different theoretical approaches to fairy tales are presented, as well as the history of the genre. Furthermore, general characteristics and functions of fairy tales are described, as well as the clear distinction between fairy tales and fantasy fiction. The second part of the thesis focuses on the Witcher series with an emphasis on the analysis of classic fairy tales which were reinterpreted by Sapkowski in various novels within the aforementioned series. Short stories from the collections The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny were analysed in more detail. In the conclusion, the thesis was offered that the author transformed classic fairy tales and created a world that stimulates thinking and resonates with the contemporary audience.
