Abstract

Klimatske promjene veliki su izazov 21. stoljeća na što, osim znanstvenika, ukazuje pokret za borbu protiv klimatskih promjena. Ovaj rad bavi se retorikom klimatskog pokreta analizirajući govore Grete Thunberg, Elizabeth Wathuti, Xiye Bastide, Alexandrije Villaseñor i Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim. U radu se koristi deskriptivna retorička analiza kompozicije, argumentacije i figurativnosti provedena na deset govora. Rezultati analize pokazali su da govori u pravilu ne odstupaju od uobičajene... More kompozicijske podjele na tri dijela. Argumentacija počiva na vrijednosnim i političkim tvrdnjama te očitostima koje izazivaju osjećaje sažaljenja, ljutnje i zabrinutosti. Abstract (english)

As pointed out by scientists and the climate movement, climate change is a major challenge of the 21st century. In this thesis, the rhetoric of the climate movement was examined through an analysis of speeches by Greta Thunberg, Elizabeth Wathuti, Xiye Bastida, Alexandria Villaseñor, and Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim. By using descriptive rhetorical analysis on ten speeches, this thesis analyses speech composition, argumentation, and rhetorical devices. The results show that the speeches... More follow the usual three-part structure. Argumentation rests on claims of value and claims of policy, as well as on evidence that evokes feelings of pity, anger, and concern. Legitimate ad misericordiam and ad metum arguments are also noticeable.
