Abstract

This thesis comprises five translations with commentary. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (Red Sands: Reportage and Recipes Through Central Asia from Hinterland to Heartland by Caroline Eden, The Hidden Adult: Defining Children’s Literature by Perry Nodelman and 12 Bytes: How We Got Here. Where We Might Go Next by Jeanette Winterson) and two from Croatian into English (Staklo u Dubrovačkoj Republici u svjetlu arheoloških nalaza by Nikolina Topić and Iva, do Mjeseca i natrag by Roman Simić). The commentary focused on translation solutions relating to the terminology present in the excerpts, with emphasis on specialised terminology relating to fields such as archaeology, religion and philosophy.

Abstract (croatian)

Ovaj se diplomski rad sastoji od pet prijevoda popraćenih komentarima. Prevođeni su tekstovi ulomci iz pet knjiga, pri čemu su tri prevođena s engleskog na hrvatski (Red Sands: Reportage and Recipes Through Central Asia from Hinterland to Heartland autorice Caroline Eden, The Hidden Adult: Defining Children’s Literature autora Perryja Nodelmana i 12 Bytes: How We Got Here. Where We Might Go Next autorice Jeanette Winterson), a dva s hrvatskog na engleski (Staklo u Dubrovačkoj Republici u svjetlu arheoloških nalaza autorice Nikoline Topić i Iva, do Mjeseca i natrag autora Romana Simića). Fokus komentara na prijevod ulomaka bio je na prijevodnim rješenjima povezanim s terminologijom, posebice specijaliziranom terminologijom iz područja poput arheologije, religije i filozofije.
