Abstract

Ovaj rad bavi se analizom mita u djelu Prawda starowieku (1936), prvom dijelu tetralogije Na wysokiej połoninie poljskog autora Stanisława Vincenza. Mit Vincenzu, kao antimodernistu, predstavlja nastavak homerske mitotvorne tradicije, a koristi ga kako bi stvorio idealiziranu sliku etnosa Gucula, pripadnika rusinskog naroda. Tu planinsku zajednicu Guculšč’ynu poljski autor označio je kao svojevrsnog kolektivnog protagonista koji ima osebujan mitski svjetonazor. Vrijeme i prostor su prema mišljenju Vincenzovih Gucula idealni odnosno„ sveti” i nepromjenjivi, sukladno tezi Mircea Eliadea o arhaičnim i religioznim zajednicama. Svoj način života smatraju božanskim jer same sebe vide kao „djecu Božju”. Vincenz je svoje djelo pisao kako bi tadašnjoj kulturi Zapada, za koju je smatrao da stremi duhovnoj i moralnoj propasti, pokazao svoju viziju jedne tradicionalne zajednice u kojoj pronašao spas za čovjekovu suvremenu duhovno-moralnu krizu. Cilj ovog rada je analizirati mit u svjetonazoru Vincenzovih Gucula i objasniti njegove značajke i funkcije sukladno autorovoj namjeri.
Prvi dio rada prezentira ću neophodne informacije o biografiji autora Stanisława Vincenza i njegovu književnom stvaralaštvu te inspiraciji i razlozima za pisanje tetralogije Na wysokiej połoninie. Drugi dio podrazumijeva analize mita u djelu Prawda starowieku. U prvom obrađuje se mit u književnoteorijskom smislu. U drugom poglavlju u fokusu je pripovjedač. Treće poglavlje posvećeno je svjetonazoru idealiziranih Gucula. Četvrto i peto poglavlje bave se mitskim i ,,svetim” prostorom i vremenom u kojem žive navedeni Guculi.

Abstract (english)

This paper analyzes the role of myth in Prawda starowieku (The Truth of the Ages), the first part of the Na wysokiej połoninie (On the High Uplands) tetralogy by Polish author Stanisław Vincenz. For Vincenz, an anti-modernist, myth represents a continuation of the Homeric myth-making tradition. He utilizes it to create an idealized image of the Hutsuls, a Rusyn ethnic group. The Polish author assigns this highland community, the Hutsulšč’yna, as a collective protagonist with a distinctive mythical worldview. Time and space, according to Vincenz's Hutsuls, are ideal, or "sacred" and thusly unchanging, in line with Mircea Eliade's thesis about archaic and religious communities. They consider their way of life divine, seeing themselves as "children of God." In his work he wanted to present his vision of a traditional community, in which he saw a solution to the modern human spiritual and moral crisis of the contemporary Western culture, which he believed was heading towards spiritual and moral decay. The aim of this paper is to analyze myth in the worldview of Vincenz's Hutsuls and explain its characteristics and functions in accordance with the author's intent.
The first part of the paper presents essential information about the author's biography, Stanisław Vincenz, his literary work, and the inspiration and reasons for writing the Na wysokiej połoninie tetralogy. The second part involves analyzing the myth in Prawda starowieku. The first chapter examines myth in a literary theory sense. The second chapter focuses on the narrator. The third chapter is dedicated to the worldview of the idealized Hutsuls. The fourth and fifth chapters deal with the mythical and "sacred" space and time in which these Hutsuls live.
