Abstract

Sve je veća zastupljenost učenika kojima hrvatski nije materinski jezik u hrvatskim školama, a ovaj se rad bavi izazovima s kojima se susreću učitelji i nastavnici koji ih poučavaju. Kako bi se istražili i opisali izazovi poučavanja inojezičnih učenika izrađen je anketni upitnik kojim je obuhvaćeno 107 ispitanika koji trenutno poučavaju ili su u prošlosti poučavali inojezične učenike u razrednoj ili predmetnoj nastavi u osnovnim školama ili u srednjim školama, od kojih je 84,1 % ženskog spola, 14 % muškog spola, dok se 1,9 % ispitanika nije željelo izjasniti o spolnoj pripadnosti. Istraživanje se provodilo u on line okruženju od prosinca 2023. do ožujka 2024. godine. Istraživanjem je utvrđeno kako čak 90,7 % ispitanika nije tijekom primarnog obrazovanja osposobljeno za rad s inojezičnim učenicima, a samo 12,3 % ispitanika pohađa ili je pohađalo programe za dodatno osposobljavanje za rad s inojezičnim učenicima nakon studija. Utvrđeno je i da se ispitanici u poučavanju inojezičnih učenika suočavaju i s brojnim drugim izazovima kao što su teškoće u procjenjivanju napretka inojezičnih učenika, teškoće u komunikaciji s njihovim roditeljima ili skrbnicima te predrasude i stereotipi prema inojezičnim učenicima. Pojedini ispitanici ipak navode i pozitivne aspekte poučavanja inojezičnih učenika te nude prijedloge za unaprjeđenje postojeće odgojno-obrazovne prakse s ciljem prevladavanja navedenih izazova.

Abstract (english)

The number of students in Croatian schools whose mother tongue is not Croatian is growing, and this paper deals with challenges that teachers who teach such students face. In order to research and describe the challenges that come with teaching foreign language speaking students, a questionnaire type survey has been done. The survey included 107 examinees who currently teach, or who taught foreign language speaking students in the past, whether it be in 1st to 4th grade, 5th to 8th grade of primary school or in high school. 84.1% of the examinees were females, 14% were males, while 1.9% of the examinees decided not to state their gender. The questionnaire was done online during the period from December 2023 to March 2024. It determined that 90.7% of the examinees, during their primary education were not trained to work with foreign language speaking students, and only 12.3% of them after their graduation attended or is attending different programs for additional training for working with foreign language speaking students. It is also determined that the examinees face other different challenges while teaching foreign language speaking students such as difficulties in assessing the students’ progress, difficulties in communicating with the students’ parents or guardians and prejudice and stereotypes towards such students. However, some of the examinees state the positive aspects of teaching foreign language speaking students and give suggestions for advancing the existing educational practice with the goal of overcoming mentioned challenges.
