Abstract

Ovaj se rad dotiče religijskih aspekata koji se odražavaju na svakodnevni medij, novac. Izlaže se povijesni okvir razvoja grada i polisa da bi se bolje razumjeli uvjeti života na otoku Naksu kao i mitološki i kulturo-religijski pregled o bogu Dionizu i njegovim glavnim karakteristikama te vezama s Naksom. Rad sistematizira serije kovanica te se fokusira na analizu motiva i simbola u religijskom i mitološkom pogledu posebno po pitanju biljaka jer Dioniz prema svojoj religijskoj prirodi ima zajedničke osobine s biljkama u smislu vitalnosti i sposobnosti povratka u život. Najpopularnije biljke koje se povezuju s božanstvom su vinova loza, bršljan i bor, no postoje i neke druge, manje popularne, koje igraju važnu ulogu u kultu Dioniza. Kao i ovo božanstvo, i ove biljke imaju svijetle i tamne strane i mogu donijeti radost i sreću kao i ludilo ili čak smrt. Ponekad određene biljke simboliziraju određeni aspekt Dionizovog kulta i nose simboliku. Ovaj je rad usmjeren na definiranje važnosti dionizijskih motiva i njihova simboličkog značenja u religijskom i povijesnom kontekstu razvoja otoka Naksa.

Abstract (english)

This paper explores religious aspects that are reflected in the everyday medium, money. The historical framework of the development of the city and the polis is presented in order to better understand the conditions of life on the island of Naxos, as well as a mythological and cultural-religious overview of the god Dionysus and his main characteristics and connections with Naxos. The work systematizes the series of coins and focuses on the analysis of motifs and symbols from a religious and mythological point of view, especially regarding plants, because Dionysus, according to his religious nature, has common features with plants in terms of vitality and the ability to return to life. The most popular plants associated with the deity are the vine, ivy and pine, but there are also some other, less popular ones, that play an important role in the cult of Dionysus. Like this deity, these plants also have light and dark sides and can bring joy and happiness as well as madness or even death. Sometimes certain plants symbolize a certain aspect of the cult of Dionysus and carry symbolism. This paper is aimed at defining the importance of Dionysian motifs and their symbolic meaning in the religious and historical context of the development of the island of Naks.
