Abstract

Tema ovog rada je lov na osmanskom dvoru, s naglaskom na lov s lovačkim psima i pticama grabljivicama. Rad pokušava objasniti ulogu lova ne samo u životu sultana, a time i na dvoru, već i kao dio veće strukture čije su posljedice obuhvaćale cijelo Carstvo, hijerarhiju unutar lovačke institucije na dvoru, te opisuje važne komponente lova, uključujući sudionike, vrijeme i mjesto lova, lovačku opremu i tehnike korištene tijekom lova, te se osvrće na vrste lovačkih pasa i ptica grabljivica, postupke nabave i dresure životinje, kao i na mehanizme i profesije koje su proizašle iz velikih potreba lovačke institucije, u usporedbi sa europskim zemljama, posebno Francuskom i Engleskom. Cilj je prikazati opseg i značaj lovačke institucije unutar Osmanskog Carstva i njegov značaj unutar osmanske dvorske kulture.

Abstract (english)

The topic of this thesis concerns hunting at the Ottoman court, with the emphasis on hunting with dogs and birds of prey. The thesis tries to examine the role of the hunt on the court scale, but also as part of a larger structure whose consequences encompassed the Empire. Through the descriptions of important components of hunting such as participants, seasons and hunting grounds, hunting gear and hunting techniques employed, as well as exploration of the hunting breeds utilized in hunting, the methods of acquiring and training of the animals, and the mechanisms and professions which were the results of the high demand from the hunting institution, compared to countries such as England and France, this thesis aims is to represent the scale and importance of the hunting institution within the Ottoman Empire and its importance within the ottoman court culture.
