Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit geht von der Annahme aus, dass alle Sprachen, die man beherrscht, Teile desselben Sprachsystems im Gehirn sind. Durch jede neue Sprache, die man dem System hinzufügt, steigt das mehrsprachige Potenzial der Person. Dies widerspiegelt sich vor allem in einem geschickteren Umgang mit Lernstrategien und besserem metasprachlichem Bewusstsein. Um aber das mehrsprachige Potenzial zu nutzen, sollen im Unterricht mehrsprachige Ansätze vonseiten der Lehrperson eingesetzt werden. Dementsprechend setzt sich die Arbeit mit der Mehrsprachigkeit im L3-Unterricht im Kontext der kroatischen (L1), englischen (L2) und deutschen (L3) Sprache auseinander. Man untersucht, ob und wie das mehrsprachige Potenzial der Schüler genutzt wird und welche Rolle in diesem Prozess die Lehrperson spielt. Dies bezieht sich in erster Linie auf den Einsatz von Sprachvergleichen und die Nutzung von Kommunikations- bzw. Transferstrategien. Durch die Methoden der Unterrichtsbeobachtung und des Experteninterviews werden die mehrsprachigen Ansätze im Deutschunterricht aus zwei unterschiedlichen Perspektiven betrachtet und qualitativ analysiert. Man überprüft die Ergebnisse der aktuellen Untersuchung in Europa im kroatischen Kontext und erwartet dabei, Vorteile des mehrsprachigen Prinzips in Bezug auf die Kombination der deutschen, englischen und kroatischen Sprache zu erkennen.

Abstract (english)

The paper is based on the assumption that all languages that one speaks are part of the same language system in the brain. With each new language added to the system, the multilingual potential of the person increases. This is reflected above all in a more skillful handling of learning strategies and better metalinguistic awareness. However, in order to use the multilingual potential, multilingual approaches should be used by the teacher in the classroom. Accordingly, the paper deals with multilingualism in L3 teaching in the context of the Croatian (L1), English (L2) and German (L3) language. One examines whether and how the multilingual potential of the students is used and what role the teacher plays in this process. This primarily relates to the use of language comparisons and the use of communication and transfer strategies. Through the methods of class observation and expert interview, the multilingual approach in German class is viewed from two different perspectives and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the current study in Europe are checked in the Croatian context and one expects to recognize the advantages of the multilingual approach in relation to the combination of the German, English and Croatian language.
